The Basic Enterprise Application Realm (BEAR) is a combined application server and framework. BEAR delivers the core platform for hosting web applications as well as the tools needed for application development.

Designed to be both more lightweight and powerful that other frameworks, BEAR's emphasis is not on forcing rigid adherance to yet another abstraction layer, but on exposing the underlying power of the LAMP application stack with optional templates and a first rate PHP and Javascript class library.

BEAR runs exclusively on top of ACHE and is bundled with current releases of ACHE for rapid deployment. No other application server combines this level of power with ease of deployment.
